This product will convert your factory automatic floor shifter that came in your car to now work with a more modern transmission. Available for 4-speed OD automatics, this kit takes the guesswork out of a transmission upgrade and makes your shifter work as if your car came that way from the factory. This kit may also be used when switching from a column shift to a factory floor shifter when a 4-speed overdrive automatic transmission will be used.
This kit does include a new shifter detent (EXCEPT for 6L80E / 6L90E kits). The Powerglide (2-speed) shifter was able to be used without modification for the TH350 or TH400 (3-speeds). However, when switching to a 4-speed overdrive automatic this is no longer true. The conversion was not designed for, and does not include any provision for, use of the "Rally" shifting option. Continued use of this option should be tested with the engine off. There will be NO STOP for the Overdrive. View the diagram below to learn why.
This kit does not allow for steering lock or neutral safety column linkages. To solve this easily relocate your neutral safety / back-up light switch to your shifter with our Neutral Safety / Back-up Light Switch Relocation Kit. If you wish to retain your column linkages, we do offer specialty levers upon request.
